When I started The People of Detroit more than 10 years ago, Source Bookseller owner Ms. Janet Jones was one of the first people I photographed. The purpose of the project was to show the city's people deserved at least as much media attention as its abandoned buildings. Ms. Jones embodied that mission.
Despite the vagaries of fate, Ms. Jones' bookstore thrives. As a matter of fact, it was recently expanded. Stop in and say hello.
